A total of 24 seismic retrofit projects were carried out in fiscal year 2025.

The breakdown of the work is as follows:

  • 22 full retrofits (Iw 1.0 or higher)
    • including 1 property started in 1981 or later, which was not eligible for subsidies
  • 1 partial retrofit (only one room upgraded to Iw 1.5 or higher)
  • 1 phased retrofit (Iw 0.7 or higher)

Following the Noto Peninsula Earthquake of January 1, 2024, requests for seismic retrofit work increased sharply.
Over the two-year period through fiscal year 2025, we were able to complete retrofit work on nearly all of these projects.

The total number of retrofit projects completed since January 1, 2024 is 45.

The breakdown is as follows:

  • 39 full retrofits (Iw 1.0 or higher)
    • including 2 properties started in 1981 or later, which were not eligible for subsidies
  • 1 first-floor-only retrofit
  • 1 partial retrofit (only one room upgraded to Iw 1.5 or higher)
  • 2 phased retrofits (Iw 0.7 or higher)

From the next fiscal year onward, the key challenge will be how effectively we can identify and respond to the usual level of demand for seismic retrofitting.
