PIANOZEN at the national treasure Zuiryuji Temple in Takaoka City
瑞龍寺 大庫裏(重要文化財)のピアノ設置風景
At the national treasure Zuiryuji Temple in Takaoka City, which is famous as a temple of the Zen sect (Soto sect), I participated in ``PIANOZEN'', an event where you can face yourself like zazen through piano performance, and played the piano.
The piano installed is an upright piano made by Steinway, the world's top piano manufacturer.
This is the piano that HAYATO SUMINO, a pianist who continues to lead the contemporary Japanese piano world, actually used on his concert tour this year.
In order to express the introspective sound Mr. Sumino was looking for, special treatments were used, such as cutting into the felt around the strings.
禅宗（曹洞宗）のお寺として名高い高岡市の国宝瑞龍寺にて、ピアノ演奏を通じて座禅のように自分と向き合うためのイベント『PIANOZEN』に参加しピアノを弾いてきました。
設置されるピアノは、世界最高峰のピアノメーカー・スタインウェイ製のアップライトピアノ。
現代日本のピアノ界を牽引し続けるピアニスト、角野隼斗さんが、今年のコンサートツアーで実際に使用したピアノです。
角野さんの求める内省的な響きを表現するため、弦まわりのフエルトに切り込みを入れるなど、特殊な加工がなされています。
Since I only had 5 minutes to perform, I chose the song "Three Views of a Secret" by the genius bassist Jaco Pastorius.
For the first melody, I lowered the soft felt and enjoyed the deep resonance.
Since it's a Steinway upright piano, I was curious to see how it would sound.
The sound resonates very clearly.
I think Steinway pianos are characterized by their brilliant mid-high range, but this upright also sounds beautifully in the mid-low range.
It seems like a different instrument than an upright piano.
Coupled with the calm location of the Okuri (Important Cultural Property) where it is installed, the sound reverberates throughout the space.
I was limited in the number of songs I could bring because I didn't have much time to play, and I wanted to play other songs more if it sounded like this.
演奏時間は5分しかありませんでしたので、演奏曲は天才ベーシストJaco Pastoriusの代表曲「Three Views of a Secret 」としました。
最初のメロディーは弱音のフェルトを降ろして深い響きを楽しみました。
スタインウェイ製のアップライトピアノと言うことで、どんな響きがするか興味津々でした。
とってもきれいに音が響きますね。
スタインウェイのピアノは中高域がきらびやかに鳴るところが特徴だと思いますが、このアップライトは中低域もきれいに響きます。
アップライトピアノを超えた違う楽器みたいですね。
設置された大庫裏(重要文化財)の落ち着いた場所と相まって、空間に音が響き渡ります。
演奏時間が少なくて持ってくる曲が限られており、この鳴り方でしたら他の曲をもっと弾きたいと思いました。
I thought this was a great opportunity, so I chose a tie with a piano keyboard pattern.
今回はせっかくの機会だと思い、ピアノ鍵盤柄のネクタイを選びました。
